Dear Friends,
Colleagues and Partners in the ministry,
I must say
that I am greatly thrilled to share this inaugural brief as we
launch the CAPA Website.
Indeed, we
are living in the Age of Information and there is a real challenge
for us, especially in Africa, to embrace the new information technologies
that are being developed daily. That is why, together with our
partners in Trinity Church New York, we have established a communications
unit at CAPA secretariat to help strengthen and propel the Anglican
Church in Africa to re-engineer its communication, in order to
improve its mission in the new millennium.
Talking about
our mission as the Church of Christ, we as the Anglican Church
in Africa are conscious of the fact the thousands of our brothers
and sisters are dying daily from the deadly AIDS scourge. This
has prompted the Church, through the Primates, to come up with
the All Africa Anglican AIDS Planning Framework that gives specific
attention to prevention, pastoral care, counselling, death and
leadership. CAPA being the coordinating structure of the Anglican
Church in Africa has therefore made HIV/AIDS one of the priority
programmes alongside Bishops Training and Communication.
I invite you
to navigate through this site with us in order to catch a glimpse
of the activities that we are undertaking at CAPA and to stand
with us in prayer and support. Please do feel free to contact
me, or any of the officers that I work with, to respond to any
questions or further information that you may require.
May the Peace
of God be with you,
REV CANON JOHN L KANYIKWA
CAPA GENERAL SECRETARY
