Washington DC Advocacy Visit June 2018

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” Proverbs 31:8-9

With the support of the Office of the Director of Government Relations Canon Grace Kaiso, CAPA General Secretary, spent a week in Washington DC and was able to meet several officials at the Hill and State Department. They discussed a wide range of issues regarding peace building efforts by faith Communities in the region including South Sudan. Other issues covered included youth empowerment, human trafficking and modern-day slavery, and Family Health.  The General Secretary was linked to various US embassies for follow up purposes.

The Director of the Government Relations office, Ms. Linder Blachly and her associate Ms. Patricia Kisare, now work closely with CAPA to set  up a framework that will facilitate sustained engagement  with the key  officials relevant to the African Region in the State Department as well as building the capacity of Religious leaders in advocacy.
