CHURCH OF THE PROVINCE OF WEST AFRICA CONSULTATION
CAPA held a very fruitful consultation with the Church of the Province of West Africa (CPWA). The consultation was held at the Littre Acre Hotel, Aburi from 27th July to 2nd August 2015. The theme of the Consultation was “Against All Odds: Purposing to Build a Strong and Caring Church”.
It was a two-phased phased Consultation which brought together over 60 delegates from the 17 Dioceses of the CPWA. In the first phase 15 Bishops and 14 wives were able to explore their spiritual and personal journeys as well as their ministerial terrain affirming and challenging each other.
The second phase focussed on Umoja: identifying resources within to facilitate mission challenges as well as exploring ways to nurture enabling practices and challenges. In the second phase, 34 Diocesan Development Officers and Women workers joined the bishops and their wives. This is the first time such a consultation was happening in the region.
The team of facilitators included the retired Archbishop of Kenya Benjamin Nzimbi and his wife Alice, Dr Agnes Abuom of TAABCO and Moderator of World Council of Churches (WCC) Central Committee ,Prof Edison Kalengyo Director of Theology, Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations at All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) among others.
We were also honoured by the presence of retired Archbishop Okine and Gifty Tetteh, one of our partners.
In his appreciation letter to CAPA, the Primate of CPWA The Most Rev Dr Daniel Sarfo said, “the Consultation was more or less an orientation, refresher course or capacity building for us, we were really empowered with new skills and ideas ready for effective ministry”.
